I am pleased to share that the plans by train operating companies to close ticket offices are going to be withdrawn.
If the plans had gone ahead, it would have impacted stations in the local area including at Horley, Salfords, Whyteleafe, Upper Warlingham and Caterham.
This is an issue that I know residents are concerned about and I shared those concerns, particularly around accessibility and the provision of station assistance. Accessibility should be a right and not a luxury and the closure of ticket offices would have hindered rail travel for so many people.
I am therefore pleased that the plans to close ticket offices are going to be withdrawn.
