The first accessible and inclusive playground in Tandridge

It was a pleasure to head to Barnett's Shaw in Oxted yesterday morning to attend the opening of the new inclusive and accessible playground. This was funded by Oxted Parish Council and was opened by Cllr Jackie Wren, Chairman of Tandridge District Council. It's the first accessible and inclusive playground in the whole of Tandridge.

I particularly liked that there were sensory panels, a bucket swing and a wheelchair-accessible roundabout. All of these on a surface that is level to improve accessibility. This is a step in the right direction and will hopefully be the start of ensuring all play areas in Tandridge are accessible and inclusive for all.

Thank you to Oxted Parish Council and to Jackie for inviting me along and for setting the bar for other parishes in Tandridge to make sure every child can access play regardless of mobility issues, neurodivergence or long-term health condition.
