I was up in Merseyside last weekend to follow Crawley Town FC as they took on Tranmere Rovers in League Two, and I saw something at Prenton Park which is really positive that it would be good to see more of in our local area of Horley and Salfords.
There was a Stoma Friendly toilet, which is so important and valuable to many people, as their visit to the loo can often cause anxiety and lead to them facing discrimination or being challenged or criticised for using accessible toilets, which is sadly a regular occurrence for many with a stoma.
There are several simple steps that can be put in place by local businesses to ensure their toilet is stoma friendly. This includes having a hook on the door to store clothing, bags or luggage to provide more space, shelf space to enable someone to spread their items more easily and avoid the use of unsanitary surfaces, a mirror to enable them to see their stoma while changing their appliances, and a disposal bin to avoid the embarrassment of disposing of their stoma bag in public view.

And you can find the Guide to Stoma Friendly Toilets here.
And while Crawley won the football match 3-1, Tranmere are certainly ahead of the curve in ensuring that there are Stoma Friendly toilets at their ground and that gets a "Go Tranmere" from me!
