Thank you to everyone who attended our residents' meeting with local police, Borough Commander for Reigate & Banstead Inspector Lyndsey Whatley and Surrey's Police & Crime Commissioner Lisa Townsend last night.

We discussed a variety of issues including violence against women and girls, which is a concern for Horley residents. The work of local police in our community on the Jog On campaign to tackle harassment against female runners has helped police forces elsewhere address this issue.

It's also important to report things to the police as well. Social media is good in many ways, but posting about crime on community groups don't get it to the police. It's always better to report to the police as well by using the Suspicious Activity portal online or by calling 999 or 101.

Some good news is that a new front desk and police station is opening in Salfords very shortly in Perrywood Business Park, Honeycrock Lane. This means we'll have a front desk much closer to Horley which is easily reached from the train and has lots of parking, which is very welcome.

And we were reassured to hear about the work to tackle shoplifting and anti-social behaviour, with a new team of police officers working to arrest those involved and make our town safe.

Thank you to everyone who came along last night. And if you have any further issues about crime and community safety, my inbox is always open.
