I am pleased that London-style contactless rail payments are being extended to Spelthorne by the end of this year.
I raised the following question at Tandridge District Council's Full Council on Thursday 20 July asking the Leader of the Council if she would join me in supporting an extension of this to Tandridge from Upper Warlingham.
I welcome the recent announcement that London-style Contactless rail payments are being extended to Spelthorne by the end of this year. This step will make commuting for residents in that part of Surrey so much easier. Tandridge residents have made representations that they would be keen to see this extended from Upper Warlingham to other parts of Tandridge including Oxted, Lingfield and Dormansland.
Will the Leader of the Council join me in supporting the extension of London-style Contactless rail payments to the rest of Tandridge?
She said she would and added that it shouldn't be introduced with the intention of removing the ability to pay by cash and secondly that residents should make representations about the proposed ticket office closures to London TravelWatch.
I agree with Cllr Sayer on this and urge you to have your say on the ticket office closures by responding to the consultation by emailing southern.consultation@londontravelwatch.co.uk
You have until 1 September to have your say on the proposed closures, which will have a massive impact on your local station so it's important to have your say.
