The proposal to pedestrianise West Street, Dorking, will be a disaster for Mole Valley. And I am working with Marisa Heath to oppose this proposal.
It will have an impact on residents all over Mole Valley travelling to various destinations. I've been told by residents in North Holmwood and Westcott that the proposal is ill-advised and will increase journey times.
As we saw when we had the sinkhole on West Street last year, it caused increased traffic on Ashcombe Road, Vincent Lane, South Street and other surrounding roads. We don't want residents and children breathing in traffic fumes and we certainly don't want to increase journey times, not just for cars, but for bus passengers too.
That is why I am opposed to this proposal as it will increase pollution and congestion. I urge you to sign Marisa Heath's petition and send a message to Mole Valley District Council.
