Personal Statement from Taylor

When I joined the Conservative Party as an 18-year-old, I did so because I believed in community service, decency and a strong sense of moral justice.

Those values inspired me then and continue to guide me today.

Over time, however, I have become increasingly disillusioned with the direction of the party at a local level. For a long time, I really hoped things could change, and I tried my very best to help bring that about from within the party. Sadly, I have reached the conclusion that I can no longer do so.

Therefore, I have resigned my membership of the Conservative Party.

This is a decision I have agonised over for months and hasn't been taken lightly. It follows a loss of trust in the local leadership and structure. While I've concluded that I can't continue as a member, I retain a great deal of respect and gratitude for many individuals within the party.

I would like to sincerely thank the members, volunteers and friends who have supported and encouraged me over the years. This decision is not a reflection on you, and I will always appreciate the kindness, guidance and friendship so many have shown me. And I wish you all the best for the future.

My priority has always been making Horley a better place to live and work, and that will not change.

I look forward to continuing that work as an Independent, focused on doing what I believe is best for our community and working constructively with people from all backgrounds and political perspectives.
