New zero-emissions buses for Horley

Updated: May 24, 2023

I am very pleased that new zero-emissions buses are being rolled out on routes 20 and 100.

These buses, which are Kite Hydroliners, will form part of a hydrogen bus fleet which will further reduce air pollution in our community. 20 buses are being rolled out this year with another 34 buses planned to be introduced next year on the Fastway network, which includes the route 20 and route 100.

The new buses have two wheelchair spaces and a low access floor which is great for accessibility and the buses also have USB charging points and free WiFi on board.

I couldn't miss the opportunity to take a ride on the new bus as it passed through Horley and what is noticeable is it is very quiet and comfortable on board and thanks to the USB charging points, I was able to give my phone a quick charge on my journey.

A new hydrogen refuelling station has opened at Go-Ahead's Crawley depot and will support this new more sustainable fleet.

I personally welcome the new buses being introduced and look forward to seeing more of them in Horley.
