Overgrown hedges are a hazard for residents with mobility needs and pushchairs, as they often have to use the road to get around it. There have been particular concerns around the hedge on Victoria Road opposite the junction with The Grove.

It turns out that Network Rail own the hedge here and another one that's troublesome on The Grove at the junction with Station Approach, which is blocking visibility for drivers turning right.

I have asked Surrey Highways to make Network Rail cut the hedges back and they have agreed to cut them. Unfortunately, they've agreed to do so in February 2026, which is not good enough given the shorter days and associated safety risks.

Given this, I have gone back to Surrey Highways to see if Network Rail can cut them back sooner. As ever, I will keep you updated.

You can report an overgrown hedge on Surrey County Council's report portal here.
