Fighting for better quality social homes

Updated: Dec 15, 2022

It's been raised with me that the conditions in some of the housing stock in Tandridge is not good. I've been working with Tandridge District Council officers to ensure these concerns are addressed.

Senior Council officers joined me to speak with residents in Newlands Court and were shown some of the issues in the block. These include bin sheds not being maintained, a broken tumble dryer left in the laundry room, broken lights in the corridors making residents feel unsafe and a lack of fire alarms in the communal areas.

I am working with officers to fix the issues in Newlands Court and in other blocks across Tandridge, however more needs to be done to address the quality of social housing. Especially as it has been reported that some flats in other parts of the District have rough sleeping in the corridors, mould and a lack of fire alarms in communal areas.

I will work to ensure that residents in social housing live in the best possible conditions and if you live in social housing and have any concerns about the condition of your home, please get in touch with me.
